Whimsy for me is not just a word or a practice, it is never even intentional. It's one of the biggest values of my life. Something I've instilled in myself as a reality. Take out whimsy and i might be as good as dead. I mean c'mon, take a look at my substack and that should be proof enough (*insert laughing emoji). Loved reading this post!
I love this so much. The part about how we used to feel so much more whimsical when we were kids I think can in part be attributed to how we were present in the moment back then, not worrying about the world or our future but simply using our imagination to make the present moment a bit more magical. Of course, life was easier back then, but presence and intention is a great way to choose to bring that whimsy back.
I was walking through a mall yesterday that I used to visit a lot as a child, where the floor has different coloured tiles. My sister and I used to colour-code them where we had to avoid stepping on certain colours like lava and so on. It just made me smile to remember that and how it almost felt natural to still approach the tiles with that game in mind. Whimsy can really be found anywhere :)
Being whimsical is just such an amazing feeling. it's like....not having a care in the world and being myself yk? however, as i grew up, certain expectations pressed down upon me and since then, some people killed that side of me. i can't watch the shows I used to watch 6 years ago. but I'll always remember that side of myself โ a whimsical little fashionista.
